roasted red grapes

Easy to make, elegant and delicious is the only way to describe Roasted Red Grapes.
My husband isn’t a lover of all things sweet or covered in frosting. Now that’s not to say that there aren’t sweets he enjoys, but given a choice, he would much rather have a treat like this. And who could blame him. This recipe has easy, uncomplicated and delicious written all over it. Before we get to this easy treat, let’s talk about what substitutions can be made in the recipe to accommodate your alcohol or non-alcohol preferences.

can i substitute the rum in the recipe for another ingredient?

If you’re not particularly partial to the flavor of rum you can substituted it for 2 Tablespoons of Grand Marnier. If you’d like to forgo the alcohol altogether in the recipe, try one these non alcohol options. Replace the Rum in the recipe with one of these non alcohol substitutes.
  • 2 Teaspoons orange extract
  • 2 -4 drops orange oil
  • 1 Tablespoon orange juice concentrate
  • 2 Teaspoons orange zest
If buying a whole bottle of rum just to make the recipe doesn’t give you a warm fuzzy feeling , look for the small sample bottles that fit in the palm of your hand. Now that we have our substitutions in place, let’s gather the ingredients for this easy roasted grape treat and make it together.

Roasted Red Grapes Ingredients:

  • 1 pound red seedless grapes on the stem, separated into clusters
  • 4 Teaspoons honey
  • 1 Teaspoon olive oil
  • 1/2 Teaspoon flaky sea salt
  • 1/2 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons rum (or a non alcohol substitute)
  • 1 Teaspoon finely grated orange zest

Roasted Red Grapes Recipe Steps

Step One

Place an oven rack in the center of your oven. Preheat the oven to 475 degrees. Place 2 Teaspoons of honey, 1 Teaspoon of flaky sea salt and 1 Teaspoon extra virgin olive oil in a bowl large enough to hold the grapes. Whisk the ingredients together. Add the seedless red grapes to the bowl and toss them so they are well coated in the mixture.

Step Two

Spread the grape clusters out onto a rimmed cookie sheet or glass baking dish in a single layer. Place the grapes in your preheated oven and roast for about 20 – 30 minutes. Halfway through baking (about 10 – 15 minutes) flip the grape clusters over and continue to roast them for another 10 – 15 minutes. The grapes should be wrinkled in appearance, slightly collapsed but still hold a shape. You don’t want them looking like raisins.

Step Three

To make the Mascarpone Dip place the mascarpone, rum (or alcohol or non alcohol substitute) , orange zest, and remaining 2 Teaspoons honey in a medium size bowl. Stir the ingredients together. Serve the grapes warm on dessert dishes along with the mascarpone dip.
This amazing grape recipe would be a delicious holiday appetizer or an any night of the week sweet treat.
